    • As a Denver roofing company with years of experience both in residential and commercial roofing installations, clearly this initiative was not vetted by roofing experts. The concept sounds utopian - green roofs flowering and spread across the Denver skyline like a 2001 A Space Odyssey movie set. The reality of this is not good. So many buildings do not have the super structure to do this nor could they ever. The drainage problems, access problems, fire hazard! This is a good reason why we have a representative government, and not a true democracy. The masses can be swayed by feel good concepts like this, but representatives are held to be our voice and to do their due diligence. It should be clear why there has yet to be a single green roof installed in Denver under this new initiative - the cost far out weighs any possible environmental benefit .

      • If the intentions of the original measure re to reduce heat island effects, improve energy efficiency, and reduce air pollution I am all for those goals. The original measure needs significant change if those goals are to be accomplished in the most cost effective and environmentally friendly ways.
